Duncan Peak Vineyards
Our panel of distinguished tasters have the following comments:
Duncan Peak 2004 Cabernet
The Color is dark plum; aromas are dark cherry mixed with sage. Medium body with very integrated tannins. Flavors are unusual in that they are a combination of things you find in old world wines and California Cabernet. Controlled alcohol, very subtle use or wood. Slightly sage and oregano like flavors from a core of ripe cherry and plum. Finish is lingering and well developed. No unresolved tannins: the wine is showing well now and will develop nicely for a number of years.
Duncan Peak 2004 RESERVE Cabernet
The color is ripe cassis-blackberry. This wine has lots of forward berry aromas, is ripe, full bodied with spicy overtones. The wood and alcohol are very integrated and do not crowd out the ample fruit that forms the core of this polished wine. The wine has excellent balance and will continue to improve for the next five to ten years.
Duncan Peak Vineyards 2005 Petite Sirah (SOLD OUT)
Color is very ripened mulberry dark and penetrating. Aromas are a mélange of sweet dark berries, cola, daffodils, which introduce flavors or dark berries, rosemary and oregano. The tannins are soft and resolved while at the same time giving sufficient life and structure to expect a long life in the bottle. The finish is resolved and holds a memory of everything that came before it. This wine is not a huge, tannic Petite Sirah, but balanced, approachable and enjoyable now.
